When you reserve a session with Connie Granja Photography, you are booking so much more than just a newborn session. You are booking an amazing boutique experience. My goal is quality customer service. I am not looking to book 20 sessions a month and turn out sessions without any personalization. My goal, rather, is to book a small number of sessions per month and devote as much time as possible to each of my clients, getting to know each one personally and providing each one with a boutique experience that is simply above the rest. When you become a client of Connie Granja Photography, you are getting custom, personalized service.
Our first communications are some of the most important. I want you to know from the beginning just how important you are and how excited I am about your unborn child, just as you are. Newborns are my passion and my specialization, and creating an amazing, unforgettable experience for you during this time is my ultimate goal. Would you like to meet in person prior to booking, tour my studio, meet me, and feel and fall in love with the amazing products I offer? Fabulous! Too busy to meet in person? No problem at all. I am happy to accommodate you. We can communicate by phone or email, whichever you are most comfortable with. My goal throughout this process is to help you feel informed and ready to make the most important decision of hiring a newborn photographer and I will be here to answer all of your questions along the way. In order to reserve a date on our calendar, we require the session fee along with our signed contract. Once you’re officially booked, we will then send you our Newborn Preparation Guide with information on what to wear and how to prepare you and your baby for the session. The Newborn Preparation Guide is something I have developed over years of working with newborns and I find that it is the key for a successful session. Then, we will schedule our Pre-Session Consultation, where we go more in-depth about your preferences and your vision for the session.
The Newborn Session
When your session is reserved, we schedule it around baby’s due date. However, we are very aware that babies come on their own terms and sometimes come earlier or later than planned! For this reason, I only book a limited amount of newborn sessions per month to ensure flexibility in our schedule. Once baby is born, I ask parents notify me within the first few days so we can solidify your session date. Newborn Sessions are scheduled within the first 14 days of life, as this the time when they are the sleepiest and don’t disturb as easily.
The day of the actual Newborn Session, I work extremely hard to create a calm, soothing environment for you and your new, precious baby. My residential studio is a beautifully decorated space that is designed specifically for newborn sessions. You can sit front row and watch the newborn session as it happens (moms love to do this!) and grab a delicious gourmet snack and relax. (Dad’s favorite!) During the session, I will gently swaddle and position your baby as she sleeps. Rest assured that your newborn is absolutely safe in my hands throughout the session. My assistant and I take every possible step to create the safest environment possible for your newborn. Newborn safety is my biggest concern at all times. I have been shooting newborns since 2010 and have 3 sweet little ones of my own – so I have plenty of experience handling babies and will always do so with utmost care.
When you arrive, I have a selection of organic wraps, delicate headbands and knit bonnets for you to choose from. I also have a selection of wraps and soft knit tops available for moms. These items are all hand picked to make sure they are simple yet flattering to mothers and babies, so as not to distract from baby’s natural beauty. Additionally, this takes the stress off of new moms to go shop for something to wear post-baby or to buy additional outfits for the baby. Our goal is to take care of everything for you, so you can just sit back and relax.
The Viewing and Ordering Appointment
Aside from the actual portrait session, the Viewing and Ordering Appointment might just be my favorite part of our time together. Once we have photographed your session, it takes 2-3 weeks to process your images and then we schedule the Viewing and Ordering Appointment.
The Viewing and Ordering Appointment is where we have the big reveal, the rolling out of the red carpet for your images. It can take place at my studio or at your own home for ultimate comfort. The red carpet will be rolled out and your newborn is the star! There, I will present your images in a beautiful slideshow set to music. It is truly such a joy for me seeing families really fall in love and get emotional over pictures I have taken of their little one.
From there, the experience gets better and better as we work together to turn your images into true works of art. Albums, wall art canvases, keepsake boxes and other unforgettable products will be made available to you at theViewing and Ordering Appointment. My heart swells every single time I have the opportunity to premiere a session to parents and I truly hope I can have the opportunity to work with you.
